Survey access

Give respondents the right survey link

Links and LinkSets let you share a survey publicly, per channel or personally per contact. Set them up in the admin, or describe the fieldwork you need to your AI assistant.

Links and LinkSets, in plain terms

Link

The URL a respondent opens. It controls whether the URL can be reused, when it is available, what context it carries and any response limit.

LinkSet

The group that keeps related links together. Even one public link lives in a LinkSet; panels and multi-channel fieldwork usually contain many.

A LinkSet organizes access. Sending those links by email is a separate step handled by a campaign.

Choose how people get in

You want
Use
Typical channel
Anyone with the URL can answer
Open reusable link
Website, social post, QR code
Each source needs its own URL
Channel link
School, store, event, department
Each known contact needs a personal URL
Personalized link
Named panel or invitation list

As a rule of thumb, one-response links are for named respondents. Multi-response links represent a channel or group and collect several anonymous responses.

Try asking your AI

“Create a public link for this survey so I can put it on our website.”

“Import these contacts and generate a personalized link for each one, then export the links as CSV so I can send them by SMS.”

Attach context to a link

A link can carry data that the survey displays, uses to choose a path or stores with the response.

  • Internal variables stay on the server, so respondents cannot see or edit them. Use them for a source, wave, partner or school.
  • URL parameters are visible and editable in the address bar. Never use them for secrets or trusted values.
  • Contact data is available on personalized links, for example to greet someone with @contact.name.
Try asking your AI

“Create one link per school in this list and attach the school name as an internal variable.”

Open and close access without editing the survey

Each link can combine an active switch, opening and closing dates, and response limits. If access is unavailable, respondents see a clear closed screen instead of a technical error.

  • Use dates for a scheduled fieldwork window.
  • Use a link quota to cap one source or channel.
  • Use a LinkSet quota to cap a whole batch.
  • Use survey quotas when the limit depends on answers or respondent data.

Open links can use a browser cookie to discourage a second response, but this is a convenience rather than an identity guarantee. The same person may still answer from another browser or device.

Try asking your AI

“Open every link in the Spring wave LinkSet on March 1 and close them on March 15.”

“Which links are open now, and how many responses has each one collected?”

Share or export the links

Copy a public URL, export a personalized batch for SMS or messaging, or use a Dayalogs campaign to send invitations by email. Links remain useful outside email, even when a contact cannot currently receive Dayalogs emails.

Your AI assistant works with the same account permissions as the admin. It can create, configure and export links, but it cannot bypass a limit or access something your account cannot.
